I asked for strength that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might obey.

I asked for health that I might do greater things;
I was given grace that I might do better things.

I asked for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise.

I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.

I received nothing that I asked for,
All that I hoped for,

MY PRAYER WAS ANSWERED.


PAUL'S PRAYER ANSWERED

There was given to me a thorn in the flesh,
The messenger of Satan to buffet me,
lest I should be exalted above measure.
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice,
that it might depart from me.

And He said unto me,
"MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE:
FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT
IN WEAKNESS."

"Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in mine infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities,
in reproaches, in necessities,
in persecutions, in distresses
for Christ's sake: for when I am weak,
then I am strong."
